Why Install Spray Foam Insulation?

Spray foam insulation is the most effective method of insulating steel buildings. As it is curing, the foam expands, spreading inside cracks, wall cavities, and crevices and effectively creates an air and vapor barrier that is second to none.

Conventional batt insulation must be installed prior to roof and wall panel installation for maximum effectiveness, which isn’t always practical. SPF foam is the perfect solution for retrofit or new construction.

Unlike Polyisocyanurate Foam Board insulation, spray foam conforms to your building’s structure, preventing much of the thermal conductivity that is inherent within metal construction. Lightweight polyurethane spray foam can easily be applied at varying thicknesses in different areas, protecting critical areas more than others. It can also enhance building rigidity by upwards of 400%.

Installation cost of SPF urethane foam is generally lower than other types of insulation.

Open- and Closed-Cell Spray Foam

There are many types of spray foam, ranging from .5 lb to 10 lb. Beyond that, there are polyureas that are even higher density. We install them all. We specialize in installing open and closed-cell spray foams.

Open-cell .5 lb foam insulation goes on heavy and can be cut shaved down as necessary. It adds about R3.6 per inch and can be installed up to 12 inches per pass in most cases but can be installed in multiple passes. Open celled foam has amazing soundproofing properties as well. Open cell is soft and flexible but it will absorb water like a sponge.
Closed cell 2 lb foam, which is typical, adds about R6.5 per inch. This is limited to 3 inches per pass in most cases but it can be installed in multiple passes. It will not absorb water nearly as readily. For this reason,1 inch of closed cell is generally required by building code before installing open cell. It is much more rigid than open cell.

While spray foam insulation has been around since the 60s, it has seen a resurgence in modern times due to the fact that it is eco-friendly, it’s constantly improving technology and endless applications. In addition to protecting your structure from the elements, spray foam helps dampen noise, making the inside of your building quieter and more peaceful. If you have moisture, mold, or mildew problems, switching to spray foam can be a cost effective solution. With a high R-value per inch, SPF foam is highly efficient. Spray foam entirely seals even the smallest of crevices in your structure.

Agricultural Spray Foam

Farmers and ranchers know how vermin and disease can decimate livestock feed storage and animal containment structures. Poultry houses are prime for a host of unwanted critters. Higher density foam (around 10 lbs per cubic ft) is an amazingly effective solution to prevent these unwanted visitors. When insulation and durability are both needed, we can combine multiple layers of different densities of foam to achieve desired performance.
